PREMIER LEAGUE TITLE RACE: Gameweek 27

As we head into Matchday 27, the premier league title race is as competitive as it has ever been. Heading into this gameweek, we analyze and predict 3 games that will have an effect in the title race and also impact the relegation battle.

1. MAN CITY VS MAN UNITED

Venue: Etihad stadium ( Home to City )
Kick off time: Sunday, 3rd March, 6:30 pm EAT
Man united: 6th, 8 points off the top 4
Man city: 2nd, 1 point off the top.

In my opinion, the Manchester Derby is no longer a marquee fixture due to the fall from glory Man united has experienced. The fixture in recent times has proved to be one sided with City winning winning 5 of the last 6 matches between the 2 sides in all competitions.

Heading into this game, it is sad that we will not get to see Rasmus Hojlund who is currently sidelined with a muscular injury. The Danish striker was finally picking up form which saw him break the record of the youngest player to score in six premier league games in a row.

On the other hand, Erlin Haaland recovered from injury and is fresh from scoring 5 goals against  Luton in the Fa cup.



Prediction: I fear for Man united in this one and predict a 3-0 win for City.

2. NOTTINGHAM FOREST VS LIVERPOOL

Venue: City ground ( Home to Forest )
Kick off time: Saturday, 2nd March,  6 pm EAT
Nottingham Forest: 17th, 4 points clear from relegation
Liverpool: 1st, 1 point ahead of second place.

These two teams are experiencing a contrast in form with Liverpool winning 4 of their last 5 matches and Nottingham only winning 1 in the last 5. The reds are fresh from a Carabao cup win against Chelsea and will be brimming with confidence after following up that win with 3-0 win against Southampton. 



At the City ground, Nottingham tend to be dominant and their home form is the reason why they survived relegation last year. Nottingham beat Liverpool in the last match to be played at the City ground and this is also tipped to be a close encounter.

Prediction: I see Nottingham pulling up a shock and predict a 2-2 draw.

3. SHEFFIELD UTD VS ARSENAL

Venue: Bramall Lane ( Home to Sheffield )
Kick off time: Monday, 4th March, 11:00 pm EAT.
Sheffield Utd: 20th, 11 points from safety.
Arsenal: 3rd, 2 points from the top.

The fate of Sheffield united seems to be sealed as they are rock bottom in the premier league 11 points away from safety. In the last 5 games, they have only won 1 games and lost the other 4. To be honest, not many tipped them to survive this season.

Arsenal unlike Sheffield united are in smoking hot form and have won all their games in 2025 scoring a whooping 25 goals and averaging 4.17 goals per game. They have also been equally impressive in defence only conceding 3 goals.  

In football, you can never rule out a shock but it is difficult to foresee the Blades pulling one over the gunners in this one.



Prediction: After winning their last 5 games in 2024, I see Arsenal extending this run and winning 1-4 away from home.
